THE E23: A
SMART AND
SUSTAINABLE
BUILDING IN AFZ

We have opened the E-23 as part of the expansion process of our Business City, an AFZ’s building that will be occupied by a multinational company.

The characteristics of this new construction make it the most innovative, technological, and sustainable bet of our Business City. It has four floors arranged for offices and three floors of parking for more than 200 vehicles, 70 motorcycles, and even bicycles, in order to promote sustainable mobility.

The E-23 responds to the development of our office buildings; however, it especially stands out in the urban landscape of the Business Park, thanks to its 19,000m2 area of construction and its gigantic facade, inspired by a mineral diamond.

AFZ’s vision has always promoted standardized buildings with a highly efficient rectangular footprint, each of them equipped with different internal architectural and in-office distributions, in such a way that they work for any customer in the services market; however, each building also has an own identity that distinguishes it from any other. For example, the E-23 building is the first one with an interior atrium that rises from the main lobby on floor one to floor four, highlighting the impressive height of a diamond figure with the transparency of a glass.

In addition to this, the building has the particularity of having a tunnel located in Basement 3, which seeks to communicate vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles comprehensively and safely between basements of block E with block D. Also, the entrance to block D was strategically chosen because soon it will face to a Park Square for leisure activities.

Smart and sustainable construction

The building was designed and executed by an interdisciplinary team that watches over the best sustainability decisions that range from energy efficiencies, water consumption to waste control, recycling, and clean construction processes.

It also includes other features like air renewal systems, solar panels, lamps, low-consumption electrical equipment, and solar-heat-repelling glasses that facilitate the entry of natural light. There is also ample space for waste ordinary, recycling, and e-waste storage. Thanks to these systems, the building saves up to 35% in water consumption and reduces electricity consumption by 22%.

The building also has the latest trends in equipment at the technology level, electrical and telecommunications systems. For communications, the building uses an IP technology connected to a BMS system (Building Management System) that monitors, controls, and automates the equipment that makes the building work. It also has modern elevators, 100% electrical backup with generators, tap systems, and a sanitary slab with sensors and high-efficiency water-consumption systems.

The E-23 means multiple benefits for Costa Rica, being a sustainable construction that helps the environment and the growth of the country’s workforce by more than 1,200 people.

At AFZ, we believe in innovation!
