256 Students Explore Artificial Intelligence as a Key Tool for Business and Society

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is here to stay—and understanding it is essential to enhancing human potential. With this vision, America Free Zone (AFZ) hosted the third edition of “Future Technology Heroes – InterTok Edition”, a program developed in partnership with Fundación Demain.

This year’s event welcomed 256 International Baccalaureate (IB) students from both public and private high schools across Costa Rica. The initiative aims to promote critical thinking, the development of soft skills, and a deeper understanding of AI’s impact on the corporate world through the lens of Theory of Knowledge.

Held at AFZ’s corporate campus, the event featured a keynote session delivered by INCAE Business School, one of the leading academic institutions in Latin America. Students also had the opportunity to tour several companies within the AFZ business community—recognized for their innovation and technological leadership—and see firsthand how these firms apply AI in their operations.

These immersive experiences enabled students to connect theory with real-world business practices and engage in meaningful discussions about AI’s role in business and its broader implications for society.

“At AFZ, we believe in the power of partnerships and education as key drivers of Costa Rica’s socioeconomic development,” said Carlos Sandí, General Manager of AFZ. “That’s why we support initiatives like this—to promote the holistic growth of students and help build a prosperous society with opportunities for all, leaving no one behind.”
